First time going to a convention

Hey guys, so as you can deduce from the subject line I'm a newcomer to the furry fandom. And I've been eyeing a few conventions to try and go to and this one is close and all that stuff.

But uh, because I'm new, I don't really have any um, furry merchandise? How can I explain this..um, I have no fursuit or not artwork. I've just been a lurker for the past few months and wanted to go to see what it was like. Saying that, I don't really know anyone else in this fandom and frankly, showing up at the convention alone with no clue of what's going on might be a little overwhelming for me (and I'm assuming anyone else).

So any advice for a first timer like myself?

And would anyone be willing to play tour guide for me?

Thanks everyone.

First time to a Furry Con

This will be my first furry con. I've been to several SF cons, though.

I don't have a fursuit, but the friend who is bringing me to MFM asked me to bring my catsuit (almost makes me look like a leopardess - working on a tail and a muzzle-mask).

I hope this will not offend those who have made fursuits.

Anyone willing/able to help me with make-up? Would $10 be enough?

i never had any problem

i never had any problem meeting people at cons. from my experience you cant walk more than a 100 feet without meeting someone. most furs are friendly folk and badges/suits are great ice breakers to introduce yourself or start a conversation.  like "oh hey, you're a weasel too!" or other such fun lines.

My suggestion is just go and

My suggestion is just go and enjoy yourself. MFM was my first furry con and I didn't know what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and spent much of the time just people watching.

As for meeting people, take in a panel or play a few games. Thats probably the best way to meet new people.
