(of course if you're not on here, you wouldn't be seeing me say hello..) Anyway. I have the distinct honor of being kinda in charge of the Masq this year. (Yeah me?). So I just wanted to see if anyone is already thinking of what they were gonna do with it. I decided that this being the Tenth year of MFM, anyone that can work either Tin or Aluminum (which is the traditional gift for a 10th anniversary) into their act and make it work will get a special award. The act's don't have to have that in there, but it would just be something fun to try to work on. Our excellent sound guy Protius is on deck to keep the sound up and running. We would ask that it be standard cd format type of music or sound or whatever. Anything else, please ask away. Contact Taha and he'll get you set. We're also looking for your MFM memories. If there's a special moment that you remember, type up a paragraph about it and send it to Tahamaki - it might just make it in the book. ***** "The Flea Collar Comedy Tour" will make its debut at MFM this year. If you would like to try your paws/hands/talons/etc. at doing a 5-10 minute routine, contact Taha and he'll get you on the list. ***** Writing Track: I'm arranging more events! In addition to the existing ones (Meet & Greet, Iron Author, Art of Alliteration), we have Phil Geusz planning to give a talk on Writing Action and host a get-together for members of the TSA story-writing list. Also waiting to hear from Kamau, Sly Rabbit, Chaka Wolf and Dokino, who've each said they're interested in running an event. This could be quite a busy track depending on who responds, but in any case it looks like we'll have a respectable set of offerings for the con. -Kris ***** Video Room: The Video Room will once again be taking requests from the MFM website all year long, so be sure to vote for your favorite Furry Videos! As in past years we'll be showing your favorite films, clips and shorts from 10 am to 2 am, so there will be lots of Furry Film goodness for you to enjoy! ***** The Variety Show is back and better than ever... well, that of course will have to be seen. This being the Tenth year of MFM, anyone that can work either Tin or Aluminum (which is the traditional gift for a 10th anniversary) into their act and make it work will get a special award. The act's don't have to have that in there, but it would just be something fun to try to work on. Other than that, we will have a great show lined up as usual. We wouldn't have it any other way. ***** Spirituality- We're working really hard to make the offerings from the spirituality panel something special. We'll be offering old favorites like the meditation panel and Therianthropy Through the Ages. This year's focus is on Egyptian deities and animal symbols, focusing on the lesser known creatures. Everyone is familiar with Anubis and Bast, but have you met Maat or Sekhmet or Set? Ever wonder why the crocodile and the hippo were both revered and feared? We'll tell you all that and more. This year's species focus panel is the unicorn, both the Eastern and western variants. We'll be discussing their similarities and differences as well as their mythological functionality within the civilizations from which they evolved. This year's special feature panel is Animal Brides. We will be referring to two texts which attendees may find interesting and may want for themselves: The Serpent and the Swan - Animal Brides in Folklore and Literature and In Search of the Swan Maiden - a Narrative on Gender and Folklore. The scrapbook project has its own table this year and has been expanded to include any sort of memory important to attendees, whether it's someone who passed on, someone you don't see often, a pet, a place, or an event. We would especially like to see people adding their favorite memories of past MFMs to the book so that we can make this a successful tradition. We also need volunteers, preferably with scrapbook experience, to help us man the table and assist those who want to create their pages. Finally: we are having difficulty locating information regarding the lesser Egyptian deities and unicorns. If you have information you can offer, book, or web site suggestions please contact either Garet or I (tygermoonfoxx@gmail.com) ***** Greymuzzles - Once again the Greymuzzles will get together to figure out how we can use our experiences to help the Furry Community. Last year we discussed putting together a "What's all this about?" poster to put on an easel in the lobby of the con hotel to inform the public what they are walking into. We hope to have something ready for this year. We will have our traditional breakfast/discussion and one or two more sessions during the weekend. I'd like to pose this question to the younger members of the community: How can we help you? You are all welcome to attend our panels, and we are very interested in your input. ***** Fursuit Games - We're ramping up the Fursuit Games for 2006! As of now, the tentative plan is for Friday night to be open Fursuit Volleyball, since it was so popular last year. We're still working on whether or not to have the main games on Saturday night or Sunday night. We're leaning towards Sunday. Still being ironed out are the events for the main games, but we are taking suggestions. (No Twister. Not gonna happen.) I still need a couple of referees, so if you know anyone, let me know ASAP. Also, I will be emceeing the games in suit this year, so if there are any complaints you can literally "talk to the paw"! Could still use some input folks. What did everyone like last year? What did you hate? Lemme know! Gilmore. ***** Gaming - MFM Gaming looks forward to bringing you the best of the Board, Card, and Roleplay gaming universe at MFM X. For the first time ever, we're going to bring you ten different panels on Roleplay Construction, Game Creation Ideas, Hobby Games, WarGames, and CCGs. Whether you're a player, a designer, or somewhere in between, the Gaming Track at MFM will have enough to keep you interested and actively involved. From the Tournaments, to the panels, to the collectible buttons.. MFM Gaming will step up to new heights to celebrate the tenth year of MFM. See you there! Jarrod ***** Dance! Dance! Dance! This year we will be in full gear for the 10th anniversary dance! Karaoke with GrowlTiger of course Friday night which everyone loves. This year, we will be ramping up the dance and karaoke with an addition of our own, a brand new projector! We not only will be playing some of your favorite dance hits, but also will have music videos, live action on the "big screen" of people having fun on the dance floor, and some great visuals altogether. Send any requests for music and/or video of course to dance@mephitfurmeet.org. ALL DANCES WILL BE FURSUIT FRIENDLY!!! And also we're planning on having Shiro get a line-dance party setup for the fursuiters (although he's not a fursuiter himself). Everyone should enjoy the party at night with GrowlTiger, Shiro, and Yoken keeping it going until the last fur falls... ***** Lan Gaming - Hey hey hey! its the MFM LAN! come on by.. never know how late we'll be open! Lots of fun games and friendly furry fragging! With your hosts, Chestnut, Raczoon, Misha and Syrr! ***** ***IMPORTANT Hotel Info*** You have 2 choices in making your MFM hotel reservation this year, and we will once again have our $89 room rate. #1 You can make your reservation though UNIGLOBE Professional Travel at 800-653-6524 or email hotel@mephitfurmeet.net or #2 You can now go on the MFM website and select the hotel link and there is a link to our new online reservation system.
