As you may know the piece that was filmed at MFM was broadcast this past Friday on the 10pm Memphis news. It was also released for any CNN affiliate that wanted to pick it up.
Was it the most positive piece? No. Was it the worst piece done? No. Was it honest? Yes.
MFM has never actively solicited the press to come to the convention, but they do still show up invited or not. When we have had the press arrive at MFM unexpectedly, we have done out best to provide a positive view of Furry. We have also had occasions of the press doing things at MFM unbeknown to the staff as well.
It's very difficult and also a very fine line of working to keep things going at a con with so many things happening at once. Having press show up only adds into the equasion. When the Channel 5 crew showed up we had staff with the, close to them, watching them the entire time they were there.
I know there is a big outcry about Furry being in the media period. The realistic thing is Furry is comprised of many different aspects and every rating imaginable. I know some very wonderful people that are strictly "G" rated in every thing Furry they do as well as those that address every other rating level. Just take a look at the programming and dealer's room. There is a little bit of everything.
As I stated before, MFM will not now or ever actively solicit the media to come into the convention. But will be prepared for them if they do show up.
